This one took me a long time to get right.

I've got all these ideas for who I'll be in the future.

Maybe I'll be operating at the same level as my artistic soul mate, Brooke Shaden. (if you haven't seen her work, do yourself a favor and see it here: http://brookeshaden.com/gallery/)

Maybe I'll be traveling the world, making art in new and exciting places.

Maybe I'll be a mom who creates in her spare time.

Maybe I'll be a professional, working in an office, using my gifts for the greater good of the art world.

Maybe I'll be creating, printing, matte-ing (?), framing, and hanging my art on gallery walls for people to come tilt-their-heads at ;)

I've found peace in between all those maybe's.
I know that I was created for a purpose. I know that God has placed a calling on my life, and that whatever it involves will be better than I could have ever imagined. I know that it will be the most life giving reward for my pursuit.

Until I know exactly what that looks like, I'm going to keep creating, learning, growing and exploring who I am as an artist, and listening for the next steps I should take. If you're along for the ride, buckle up :)

The story of Henry, the UFA

It was then, in the darkness, I saw it. FLYING AROUND IN CIRCLES. IN MY KITCHEN. My heart leapt into my throat, my pupils dilated, and my jaw dropped a bit, and for a very long 4 seconds, I literally couldn’t believe my eyes. After giving my sleepy brain a minute to fully understand that this was, in fact, happening (and whispering a few expletives to myself), I ran back to my bedroom and shut the door….

Day 365 / Fear

I’ve let fear control every single thought I’ve had since I was a kid, and I’ve only just recently identified it as such. It’s difficult to realize that a voice so familiar could be a voice that whispers lies and intends to suffocate me, not keep me safe.

Expectation Management

We go to our favorite restaurant because of the way they cook burgers, so we expect to be able to sit down, order a burger, and have it taste as incredible as it has the last few times we went. When it doesn't, we're disappointed (and probably hangry).

Creating Space

In his presence, we remain safe and sound, the outside world can remain at bay. Yet we always have the option to stand up and walk out, and to face it all again, knowing we always have that place to return to to be refreshed.
